A Comparative Analysis of Performance Characteristics of 2.2 kW 3 Phase Induction Motor using DAR and DCR Technology
Abstract—This paper describes a comparison of the performance characteristics of a 2.2 kW induction motor with conventional Die-cast Aluminium Rotor (DAR) to that of a 2.2 kW induction motor with proposed Die- cast Copper Rotor (DCR). Both the motors are fabricated and its steady state characteristics are compared using MATLAB 7 software whose inputs are No-load and Blocked rotor tests obtained from the above motors. The actual load tests were also performed in the motors in accordance with IS 12615: 2004 standard.
